22 Apr Prepping Your Motorcycle For Spring
If you own a motorcycle, spring is probably one of your favorite times of year. As the weather warms, you get more and more opportunities to head out on your bike and enjoy the open road, fresh air, and spring sun. So you can make the most of the coming season, here are a few ways you should prepare your motorcycle.
- Freshen The Fuel: The old gasoline in your tank from last season has deteriorated while your bike has been in storage over the winter. Hopefully, you either drained your tank over the winter or added a fuel stabilizer. Even if you did not, now is the time to drain your tank, look inside for rust, condensation or other buildup, and then fill your tank with a high-octane fuel.
- Tire Time: Your tires are your only connection with the road, so it is crucial that they are in good condition. Look for any flat-spotting that has occurred after the tires have been sitting for a long time, get the tires back to their proper pressure, and check that your tires are not too worn.
- On Oil: Spring is the perfect time to change your oil, especially if you did not do that as part of your winterizing process. While you are changing the oil, change the oil filter as well.
- Address Aesthetics: Your motorcycle deserves to look as good as it runs. Wash and wax it before you head out on the road.
